| June 27--8:30 am--one of the adults was calling from the roof of the adult book store. I saw two babies--both in the box.

                  | At 1:15 pm I headed out of work to watch them
for over 45 minutes. When I arrived on the garage roof, the
parents were nowhere to be seen. One baby was perched on the front of the box and one
was sitting up behind it. Suddenly, about 10 or 15 minutes
after I arrived, the father flew over, calling and flying
back and forth for several minutes. The smallest baby appeared
in back of the box--so it appears there really are just three
now. The mother flew in a few minutes later. She spent most
of her time perched on a taller building. The male kept flying
overhead, back and forth, calling repeatedly. Every now and
then he'd perch on the corner of the hotel nearest the babies.
They were like spectators at a tennis match--at times when
he was in view all three baby faces went back and forth tracking
him. I had to be home for an important phone call, so couldn't
stay after 2:05. At that point the three babies were still
watching and both parents were still close by, the male still
flying over the babies, as if trying to persuade them to
go for a practice flight, while the female sat a little farther
away watching, as if in full red alert in case something
went wrong. In the photos, "Mom" is on the corner in the
three photos. "Dad" is on the pointed decoration. The three
                    babies are paying attention. |
