Laura's Cool Sparrow pictures

Junco in my yard. I'm working on getting better photos, but don't have much time before they're gone! This wasn't actually in Duluth, but in Rochester, at Ken Nichols' place. He has some really lovely feeders! This was at my mother-in-law's feeder in Port Wing, Wisconsin.

White-crowned Sparrows are SO handsome! These were at my mother-in-law's house, too. I had good conditions for photographing sparrows at my mother-in-law's on Mother's Day.

I like how bright their eyes are. I'd never noticed the little spot of yellow at the bend of the wing, but it's visible especially on these pictures when you click on them to see the enlarged version. Well, cardinals ARE in the sparrow family! This one isn't quite as crisp as I'd like, but it's the best cardinal photo I've managed to take. It was at Ken Nichols' feeder.

Cardinals get their brightest colors after the brown feather edges wear away. This photo shows it pretty well. They're as beautiful as they are uncooperative for photo ops.
Chipping Sparrows are such handsome little guys!

Le Conte's Sparrow is pretty much my favorite one of all.
